2024 Chamber Series

Is Love a Shipwreck?

For our first concert in our 2024 chamber series, we are kicking off with an all-Canberra cast of players! Countertenor Tobias Cole will be joined by a small band of strings (and harpsichord!) to present stormy vocal works by Baroque composers Ariosti, Vivaldi, Handel, and Hasse.

Of course, we can't let the singers have all the fun! Fans of music without words will also be treated to unusual instrumental gems by Biber, Uccellini, Cazzati, Vilsmayr, and Bononcini!

WHERE: Wesley Uniting Church, Forrest, ACT

WHEN: 21st April 2024, 4pm.

Stormy works but a concert never at sea

"Ma and Cole gave the audience interesting and often entertaining and funny insights into the works they were about to perform"

"players created an atmosphere of the terror and heartbreak of a shipwreck... played and sung with a moving sensitivity."

"a charming work played with great feeling."

"dramatic and emotional... followed by... notable tenderness"
