Penelope Layland is a poet and editor living in Canberra. Her 2018 collection "Things I've thought to tell you since I saw you last" was shortlisted for both the 2019 Kenneth Slessor Prize and the 2019 ACT Book of the Year, and won the ACT Publishing and Writing Award for poetry in 2019. Her most recent book is "Beloved (Recent Work Press 2022)", a suite of poems in the voice of the 19th-century diarist Dorothy Wordsworth.
Together with Lesley Lebkowicz, Penelope has recently released "The Book of Birds"; a collection of poems by contemporary Australian poets that
invoke the many meanings of birds in our lives and imaginations.
